8 Stylish Christmas living rooms look

Make your home look amazing this festive season with ideas from this inspiring selection of Christmas living room schemes.

1. RETRO REVIVAL

Opt for a fresh take on 1950s chic by teaming lime green decorations with white paper snowflakes and copper accessories (above). Smart velvet armchairs and a pale grey buttoned back sofa bring a touch of luxury to the room and complement the mid-century inspired wallpaper. Add pizzazz to the tree with pretty beaded and crystal decorations.

 2. HIGHLAND FLING

You’ll enjoy this cosy, traditional look (above) for years to come. Throw a large plaid rug on the floor and invest in a classic wing-back leather chair to relax in after wrapping presents. Highland inspired animal cushions bring a quirky edge and tartan storage tins and stockings add festive pops of colour. Fill wooden and galvanised lanterns with twinkling candles and decorate window sills with pine cones to complete the look.

3. FADED GOLD

Go for a touch of glamour with pale gold decorations, berry sprigs and roses teamed with shell pink and ivory baubles all on a luxurious frosted tree. Wrap presents in gold paper decorated with glittery ribbon, and add a touch of luxe to your sofa with the softest faux fur and sparkling sequin cushions. Display cards on the wall in painted picture frames and tealight candles in gold decorated votives.

 4. SCANDI NOIR

Dark trees adorned with icy baubles are at the heart of this contemporary look. Team pale wood furniture with smoky grey upholstery, adding colour with blue throws and cushions. Introduce touches of sparkle with silvered glass hurricane lamps and illuminated decorations.

5. MIDNIGHT MAGIC

Charcoal grey may not seem like the most festive of colours but add in orange upholstery in a sumptuous velvet fabric, garlands of beautifully scented eucalyptus, woven twig wreaths and whitewashed wooden furniture and you’ve a sophisticated Christmas look that’s also surprisingly cosy. Charcoal walls look stunning lit by candlelight, so decorate the mantelpiece with big pillar candles.

6. MODERN FOLK

Update the classic red, white and green festive scheme by teaming contemporary red and white baubles with silver birds and embossed metal hearts. Arrange a mix of modern folk patterned cushions on a neutral sofa, add a splash of colour to the floor with a bright rug and keep it simple at the window with white shutters.

7. BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL

For a bold twist on a gold theme, introduce elements of rich coral and turquoise. Deck the tree with a bright mix of coral and turquoise glittered baubles and throw twinkling fairy lights over the mantelpiece for an extra touch of sparkle.

8. HOMESPUN COUNTRY

Create a colourful, rustic look with decorative bunting in festive prints strung up over the fireplace and a tree adorned with painted Shaker hearts, pompom garlands and Christmas bells.
